[Intro Music fades out]

Welcome back guys, thank you for tuning in, what a crazy time we live in. In my world we are weeks away from, or days away really jeez we’re already into almost single digits of days of opening the restaurant and I wanna talk about something. I wanna talk about those seven letter words that we use and that we talk about a lot. As adults we talk about those four letter words to our kids, you know, not to use and. So, I wanna talk about those seven letter words that either scare us or we don’t quite understand the importance of them and what it is. It's between the failure and success. See failure is so important. We speak about success all the time. It is the ability to resist failure, or to use failure that often leads to greater success. I’ve met people who don’t want to try for fear of failure. They’re afraid to take that on; they’re afraid to fall on their face, they’re afraid to put it all out on the line for the opportunity to succeed. Those of us that succeed a lot or succeed, put more out on the line. It’s kind of one of those things we’ve also heard over the years, you know, the rich get richer. Well, that’s cause they’re putting more on the line than what we are. Mattress Mac just made a multi-million dollar bet. Well, the rich is going to get richer if he wins, but it’s him putting more on the line; him taking an opportunity to fail at four and a half million dollars to succeed at doubling his money, actually I think it’s a little bit more than double. So, those of us that are willing to do that are the ones that are going to outwin and outperform and outdo. Continuously learning is the minimum requirement for success in any field. Continually pushing that envelope and getting comfortable being uncomfortable in the opportunity of failure is what’s going to lead you to success. Whether you’re in school, or relationships or you’re in business, you don’t need to have a big business to have your dream come true. You don’t have to have a hundred people in your company, you don’t have to have that to develop your dream, passion and goal. As you create and as you move forward, you’ll end up getting it. As long as you keep leaning into that fear of success, It’ll come. One thing is for certain though, life as a whole is very unpredictable and as we lean in to the success and the fear and we’re trying to strive for that, we’re striving for success and to diminish and to put aside fears that we have of failure. Life is absolutely unpredictable. We put all of our eggs in one basket, we think that we’re on a right track, we think we’re going down a right road to where this is going to be our success, this is going to be the thing that gets us through, this is ironclad, it’s not going to be waivered, it’s not going to happen and life is so unpredictable and you never know what’s coming next. I don’t want you to ever give up and get too comfortable; always be ready for that change. I’m going to give you an example. Y’all know i run a construction company and the month of January going into the month of February has been extremely challenging and in three weeks time I have lost all my installers due to covid, I lost my general manager twice, one he had a stomach bug but he just came back from covid for two weeks, then I lost both my secretaries, I got sick so I was down to me operating at fifty percent cause I was sick and then I was having a hundred plus temperature and I had a kid helper, he’s good, but he’s a helper and now that we’re coming back and everybody’s coming back trying to get caught up we’re trying to get everything going again and we lose two days because of the freeze. And then we get everybody back and now people are still coming out because of migraines or because babies are getting sick and kids are getting sick from school but they don’t have any child care. So it’s a constant, constant battle; every day is a challenge, every day it’s something new and life is so unpredictable. The one thing that we can do, and do this across the board, no matter what industry you're in, no matter what [laughs] life you’re in, is to plan for the unexpected. I’m gonna give you another story. My grandad grew up as a orphan during the war, not only was he a vet of war, he was a orphan and heh remembers very vividly, the military coming into their house and taking the food off their table, you know, taking it for themselves and did they steal the food to eat? Absolutely they did, because, like I said, they were orphaned, they were taking care of themselves, they lived in their house for, I think he said, six or seven months before the government came in and took them out, put them into the state thing, or awarded them to the state. They were left, and his dad left and got arrested, and they were just there and there was five of them, grandad was one of the ones that was help take care of them. So they canned food, they learned how to farm, they learned how to steal, they learned how to survive and my grandad told me that he would never go hungry again cause they knew how to can food, they knew what was going to happen with the market crash, they didn’t rely and they still don’t rely on the big company markets, you know, the grocery stores things like that. You see, as he was an orphan he had to rely on himself and grandpa said that he would never be in a position again to be on a losing end of a unpredictable situation. These types of skills that he ended up getting and that he’s taught me and that generation that's gone through the war and gone through things that’s so dramatic at that level. It’s a skill that we are missing by the masses. We’re so dependent on the government, the open market; we’re so dependent on life as a whole, you know. When we lose power we lose our mind. When we get told that there’s going to be an ice storm for twenty-four hours, just overnight into next day, the shelves are picked clean versus when they’re already low stocked, right, we’re already being indirectly put on rations because of government not being able to produce for what we’ve needed and what we rely on. So, these skills of being able to can food; these skills of being able to farm and raise your animals, as a whole, it’s being missed and that really is troubling to me; that the risk of failure to be able to provide for your family is weighing heavy, I’m sure, on many men, many women trying to take care of their family, when any given day your power can get turned off because of whatever reason. Any given day your internet could get turned off for whatever reason. Any given day you may not be able to get that lunch meat, or that meat, or that bread or even the milk because inflation’s gone up so, so dramatic. So that fear of failure, of falling on your face, of being able to provide for your family is a true legit fear. The way of getting to that, and the way of being successful, and the way to succeed to take care of your family is to learn how to take it on yourself; be able to be comfortable being uncomfortable. This last ice storm we actually lost power and Jess is like what are we going to do? Well I got options. We have other means and I have things set in place to make sure that if that happens, we are taken care of; that I have food stashed away, I have generators stashed away, I have a place for us to go to operate off a generator, operate and yet have a roof over our head. We have means that we’ve established cause I’m not gonna get caught with my pants down. So, I know how to can food, I know how to farm, I know how to butcher animals, I know how to hunt, so we’re not going to get caught with our pants down. I hope that’s the same for you, definitely I do. I don’t know where this world is going to, I don’t know what’s happening with everything going on, but the thing is, I don’t think a whole lot of people realize what decisions you make today could end up radically changing the future. What situation can you see coming if you don’t make the changes today? Cause the changes you make today, as small as they could be, could superly impact in a huge way of the future. The joke is, you could make those changes and not even realize what they are until later and how less stressed you are when that time does come. Last freeze caught me; it caught me off guard last year when we were out of power for so long. Actually we never lost power, but we lost water but, you know, the snow storm and all that it caught me and it rattled me and oh man I'm falling into that trap of depending on the Walmart having it, and the HEB having it. I fell into that trap, so, I got my act together and got ourself in a situation to where if it happens again, I’m not going to get caught off guard. So my stress levels this last week when the ice storm came, I was good; I wasn’t stressed at all because I knew I was prepared. I hope you do the same thing for your family. Men, I ask you and I charge you to rise up and live into that uncomfortable zone of failure to lead to success. I’ll talk to y’all next week.

So as a business owner, I’m always trying to find a way to cut that bottom line, of what I have to make every month, every week, as cheap and as expected as possible. So, the program I have been using for many many years is simple simple simple guys. I use squareup.com, I will give you a link to use, you can log in, and you can use my hyperlink to get set up. I’m telling you guys, this is affordable. If you are a one man wrecking show and you’re just doing your own thing, it’s great because it’s free. It doesn’t cost you anything, it allows you to process credit cards and it’s all secure. When you level up and you get to that next level, and you start having employees, and you start building a team, you start becoming that CEO, which we all want to be, you can have it in here where you can build your team, they can either clock in on site, so if you have a flower shop, or you have a restaurant, or whatever the case is, man they can log in right there, they’re in, it tracks their hours, it tracks their tips, it does all that. If you’re like me and you have guys all over the country, and they’re all fully 100% remote, they have an app that they can download. They’re able to clock in, clock out, you know when they go on break, you know when they go on lunch because it’s all tracked that way. So when you come in to do your payroll, man, you input their time cards and you hit payroll, pay my team, that stuff comes right out of your account and you’re good to go. They even do one up for you, if you have W-2 employees, they will pay those and file all the legal paperwork with the government that you have to do, and you don’t have to do anything, it’s awesome. Let them set that up, let square head that up for you, now, that does come with a fee that’s charged every month, it even does direct deposit into your employees accounts. My installers, my construction guys, they get paid every week direct deposited into their account, small fee for that as well, but man I’m telling you right now, doing what I do in the construction field, it is a life changer. I don’t have to worry about uncle Sam coming after me, I don’t have to worry about filing those bills and those– ah man dude if y’all have employees y’all know what I’m talking about. Even 1099; if you have a 1099 employee, you have a sub, you’re paying somebody that way, you can do it same way through that [Square] You set them up through 1099 you can pay them via Cashapp, through direct deposit, they get their money however they want to get it, nothing changes on your role. It is the way to go, I’m telling you. I love it, I’ve used it for many many years. Go to squareup.com/i/podcastans. Guys I’m telling you, it’s the way to do it. It gives you a customer base, CRM, you can do items, you can build websites through it, you can host your website, it all integrates, it’s all done for you, you could even go as far as selling gift cards to your loyal clients. It tracks new customers, it builds appointments, there’s other apps, there’s other things that this thing does, and I’m not even scratching the surface for you. It’s geared for business owners with employees or without, it is all based on what you’re needing to do to run your business and for small fees every month, as your business grows, this will grow with you. And you don’t have to change platforms, you don’t have to change all that stuff, it grows with you for, obviously, low monthly fees a month, but man with all my businesses I got going on, this is what I use for every one of them. As each company develops and each company grows. This goes with me and I don’t have to change the CRM, I don’t have to change the process; as I grow, I can make the changes in this and grow with it. It’s the way to do it. Man I’m telling y’all right now, I wouldn’t choose any other ones. I’ve used other ones in the past and they’ve been problems. In our world, in the business world, you don’t need problems. Go to squareup.com/i/podcastans and it will change your life I promise you
