It is my passion to bring you the answers that we all desperately need, that we seek out, and we don’t know quite where to go to to get a true answer or to change our mindset. A lot of times our mindset points us in the wrong direction of where we ultimately want to go. Here at The Hot Shot Answer, I will bring you those unbiased answers that we all desperately need. I don’t care if you’re young, if you’re married, if you’re an entrepreneur, I don’t care what position you are in life, we all need to change our mindset, we all can step up and be a better version of what we are today. My hope is that one day we can lead you to be a better version of yourself. Thank you for tuning in, let’s begin today’s discussion.

 [Intro Music fades out]

Well welcome back, we are at it again. Thank y’all for tuning in, thank y'all for all the support y’all been giving. I talk a lot about goals, and I talk a lot about setting your goals and going after it, and doing all that, but one thing I haven’t really discussed is what it takes to persevere; what it takes to keep going and carrying on. When times get rough, we talked about this a couple weeks ago, you know, when things get hard, how do you overcome that? What is it that makes you keep going? Personal note on my end, last night about 1 o’clock this morning I woke up with almost 102° temperature, so, I have a fever, but I know I have to get this podcast done because I have commitments to y’all, I have commitments to everybody else; so I have to do what I gotta do to persevere. So, a couple days ago, y’all know my son– my boys play basketball and we’re in a league outside of the highschool and outside the middle school. One of the guys– their coach didn’t show up; their coach didn't show up for the game Saturday, they didn’t show up for practice, so, one of the directors approached me Saturday and asked me to coach these boys. And, I have a lot on my plate guys, like it– it’s a lot on my plate, but I didn’t want those boys to be pushed to the side and forgotten about and no one there to step up, to take care of them and to be that guidance for them. So I wanna show you guys and kind of give you some insight on what it means to persevere. Times get hard, times get rough, we all live it, we’re all there, but it’s where you persevere in the middle is how you ultimately see yourself in the end. It’s your persistence, it’s your continuation, it’s your carrying on, it’s all those things that are going to see you through. It’s the..staying the course– y’all hear me talk about that a lot, you know, I don’t necessarily use that verbiage, but, you know, it’s that setting that goal and going after it long-term and making a decision and sticking to that decision. Whether it’s right, wrong, indifferent, as we make decisions in life, business, family, relationships, and if they’re wrong and you learn from them, then it’s a learning opportunity, if they’re right [laughs] and your right in your decision, then you’re going to reap the benefits of that and you’re going to get rewarded for that.

So, the true definition of perseverance is continuing the course of action even in the face of difficulty or, with little or no prospect of success.  You know, if you’re starting a family or you’re starting a business, you don’t know if that business is going to succeed. When you pitch it to your family and you’re like, hey I want to start my business, I want to do this, they’re going to immediately come to you with all of the negatives; what if you fail, what if you do this, what if you fall on your face, what if this, that, and the other. What if you get married and you’re like, hey I’m about to get married, and they’re like well what if you get divorced? It’s so easy for everybody else to give you that negative and put that in your head of the prospect of not succeeding. But, as you continue to make those choices, as you continue to grow, and as you continue to push that envelope what happens is, your body will release dopamine. Dopamine is the beautiful fuel that keeps people motivated [laughs] your body produces it for that reward. You have the power to increase your production of dopamine by changing your attitude and behavior. As you wake up, and as you are faced with each challenge, as you’re faced with decisions to be made, how you go about those– if you go about them in a positive way and you go in a positive way to the fact that you’re going to reward yourself or there’s something to indirectly gain, you’re going to have some kind of reward. You’re body will release the dopamine, and as your body releases that dopamine, you start feeling good, you get kind of high. Those of us that are in the sales world, the high is making the sale, and whether it’s a $100 sale job, or it’s a $5,000 sale job, or a $100,000, it doesn’t matter. The fact that you made a sale is the high and it is very very addicting, just like playing basketball or doing good, and you’re setting your goals up and you’re hitting your goals, there’s a reward there that you’ve accomplished your goal. There has been studies on how dopamine does directly reflect your good and bad habits, dopamine is a neurotransmitter, that your body kind of talks amongst itself between the nerves and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, right. So, I know I’m not the most mentally-savvy person out there, but, I just know that it’s in my world and family, life, business, or even coaching, that when you see your goals or when you set up to accomplish something that isn’t thought of or isn’t there already and you’re creating a job, or you’re creating a lifestyle, or you’re creating a better way of doing something for somebody else, it’s a high, and that is one of those drugs that I am heavily addicted too, and, it’s one that I always strive for and create. And that’s partly why I stay so busy, because if I slow down, even though I’m sick right now, if I slow down, it’s not going to be good because my depression kicks in and all that other stuff starts trickling up and going through. So I keep myself very busy. But at the same time, what I’m after is those dopamine levels and that high of the next sale; that high of working with a young man and fixing his jump-shot, or creating a business to give somebody a job so they can provide for their family, hiring somebody and not necessarily having the work for them, but selling enough work to keep them employed. That is my high, that is what I enjoy, so as, you know, I hit those joys and I hit that time, my serotonin levels are really high and that’s what is a key in stomping out and starving out the anxieties and the depressions and all those demonic thoughts. I strive for those, I strive for hitting every little goal that I have. You know, I have my goals for the day, I have my goals for the week, I have my goals for the years and so on so forth, and everyday I’m hitting a goal, every day I’m going after it and do I hit them every day? No, I don’t, I’m just like y’all I don’t hit my goals everyday. Now, is there a day that I sit down and I knock out [laughs] everything? Oh absolutely, and I have that ability, you know, when I sit down and I can knock out several things at one time, when I do have the time to sit and do it. So, I want to encourage you, if you are not after your goals, if you’re struggling to persevere with what’s going on in your life right now, keep in mind it can always get worse, you know. Like I said, I’m sick, one of my secretaries is sick, all her babies are sick, I got a general manager that’s sick, so it could always be worse. You know, in the construction company we are massively stretched thin, more stretched thin now than we’ve ever been just because I’m out three people and now I’m home in quarantine. No I don’t have covid, but nonetheless I’m going to stay home because I have such a high fever. So it makes additional challenges and as we’re looking at this day, you know, we started looking at this day and we’re like, my God how are we going to pull this off, and how are we going to make things happen, and how are we going to do this, when there was no prospect of success for the day, like we almost threw in the towel today. And, we’ve stayed the course, we’re going the distance, and our guys keep on going, they keep going, we all keep going, we’ve been in worse situations and now we’re able to persevere and continue to go. So I want to encourage you, if you’re in that situation, if you’re struggling financially, if you’re struggling in your relationships, if you’re struggling, you know, with your parents or your parents are struggling with your kids, whatever the case is. If you’re struggling keep going, don’t slow down, stop at nothing to do it. If it’s truly what you’re wanting, if it’s truly what you’re after, hold on, hold out, go the distance, don't take no for an answer. If y’all have heard the podcast in the past don’t take no for an answer, you know how I feel about no, and y’all know my definition about no. If you don’t, definitely drop back and look it up and listen to that episode, But, love y’all, time for me to go get some medicine, I’m definitely feeling my fever spike. I love y’all, I really do. Hope this is encouraging you guys to continue to persevere to get to your goal.

So as a business owner, I’m always trying to find a way to cut that bottom line, of what I have to make every month, every week, as cheap and as expected as possible. So, the program I have been using for many many years is simple simple simple guys. I use squareup.com, I will give you a link to use, you can log in, and you can use my hyperlink to get set up. I’m telling you guys, this is affordable. If you are a one man wrecking show and you’re just doing your own thing, it’s great because it’s free. It doesn’t cost you anything, it allows you to process credit cards and it’s all secure. When you level up and you get to that next level, and you start having employees, and you start building a team, you start becoming that CEO, which we all want to be, you can have it in here where you can build your team, they can either clock in on site, so if you have a flower shop, or you have a restaurant, or whatever the case is, man they can log in right there, they’re in, it tracks their hours, it tracks their tips, it does all that. If you’re like me and you have guys all over the country, and they’re all fully 100% remote, they have an app that they can download. They’re able to clock in, clock out, you know when they go on break, you know when they go on lunch because it’s all tracked that way. So when you come in to do your payroll, man, you input their time cards and you hit payroll, pay my team, that stuff comes right out of your account and you’re good to go. They even do one up for you, if you have W-2 employees, they will pay those and file all the legal paperwork with the government that you have to do, and you don’t have to do anything, it’s awesome. Let them set that up, let square head that up for you, now, that does come with a fee that’s charged every month, it even does direct deposit into your employees accounts. My installers, my construction guys, they get paid every week direct deposited into their account, small fee for that as well, but man I’m telling you right now, doing what I do in the construction field, it is a life changer. I don’t have to worry about uncle Sam coming after me, I don’t have to worry about filing those bills and those– ah man dude if y’all have employees y’all know what I’m talking about. Even 1099; if you have a 1099 employee, you have a sub, you’re paying somebody that way, you can do it same way through that [Square] You set them up through 1099 you can pay them via Cashapp, through direct deposit, they get their money however they want to get it, nothing changes on your role. It is the way to go, I’m telling you. I love it, I’ve used it for many many years. Go to squareup.com/i/podcastans. Guys I’m telling you, it’s the way to do it. It gives you a customer base, CRM, you can do items, you can build websites through it, you can host your website, it all integrates, it’s all done for you, you could even go as far as selling gift cards to your loyal clients. It tracks new customers, it builds appointments, there’s other apps, there’s other things that this thing does, and I’m not even scratching the surface for you. It’s geared for business owners with employees or without, it is all based on what you’re needing to do to run your business and for small fees every month, as your business grows, this will grow with you. And you don’t have to change platforms, you don’t have to change all that stuff, it grows with you for, obviously, low monthly fees a month, but man with all my businesses I got going on, this is what I use for every one of them. As each company develops and each company grows. This goes with me and I don’t have to change the CRM, I don’t have to change the process; as I grow, I can make the changes in this and grow with it. It’s the way to do it. Man I’m telling y’all right now, I wouldn’t choose any other ones. I’ve used other ones in the past and they’ve been problems. In our world, in the business world, you don’t need problems. Go to squareup.com/i/podcastans and it will change your life I promise you
